Tonga was incredible! We arrived late Saturday night and went to the place where we were going to stay. It was an old catholic convent. Pretty primative with lots of bugs and spiders and lizards all over. Sunday we went to the Tongan temple and the Temple president happened by while we were there and took us in so the kids could look around. That was pretty cool. We went to the Popua ward and even though most of the members couldn't speak english we really enjoyed it. We met all the ward members and spent the next 2 weeks with them. We went to family home evening, youth activities, firesides, and dances all with them. It was really sad to say good bye to them. They were so welcoming. They could really sing. They would fill the chapel with the most beautiful music. We spent our days working 8 hours on the house we were building for a very sweet family. We would mix our own cement. Crazy! On the weekends we would play and travel to other islands and snorkel and see the different sites. The kids, not me I was not very adventurous, would eat all the different meat they would provide, like turtle, pig brain & even roasted dog. YUK! We will never forget those sweet people and how happy you can be even when you have NOTHING. It was a life changing trip. Savannah had this sweet boy who really liked her. So our last night there they were having a going away party for us and his mother called me over and gave me two Ceremonial dresses and in her broken english told me the names of all her sons and ages that could marry savannah! It was so sweet! So I'm not sure but I think Savannah may be engaged! ha They were so giving. One sweet lady told me they did not have much to give us but they could give us their love! They were so good us, even though they had nothing.

What an amazing opportunity! How did you get involved with this? I'd love to have my boys do something like this one day.
