Basketball - Figuring out my new camera

Derek had a basketball game tonight - I took about 100 pictures but with all the moving around they were mostly blurry! They won - of course! They are still undefeated in basketball too! Tonight wasn't his best game he only had 6 or 7 points - very low scoring game for him - But the team won! Any picture shooting advise from all you photographers out there! I had to put the ISO up to 1600 because the lighting was so bad! I think I need to change the shutter speed or something!Derek & Aaron taking a break in the game
Derek with the ball - notice two defenders - not a problem for him
Stole the ball and took it down for a shot - (a little blurry-sorry)

Yup. It's the shutter speed. You also should have an "action" setting. Mine looks like a little guy running. You can use that and the camera sets up all the stuff. It takes pretty good shots. But if you raise that shutter speed it would work took. How fun to have a new camera!!!

I second what Karen said although Florescent lighting is just stinken hard especially when taking action shots. You did very well, You were right to just shoot away. There should also be a more then one frame button somewhere on top, it will eat up more power but you have a better chance of catching the action that way. It takes multiple shots in a row. Mine is the same button as the self timer.
